Two Louisiana brothers have reached a $10,000 personal injury settlement out-of-court in regards to their lawsuit against the Shreveport Police Department for claims of police brutality and false arrest. Justin and Corey Blanchard alleged that Cpl. Kevin Strickland acted intentionally, maliciously and in bad faith during a confrontation at a Lincoln Parish steak house in September 2003.
Corey Blanchard had specifically claimed that Strickland’s actions consequently caused him to get hurt during the confrontation, according to a story in yesterday’s Shreveport Times. The Blanchard’s personal injury lawsuit not only named Strickland and the Shreveport Police Department but also the city of Shreveport. It specifically alleged that Strickland was not legally commissioned or deputized to act as a police officer outside Shreveport’s city limits.
Under the terms of the personal injury settlement, Justin Blanchard will receive $6,500 while Corey will get $3,500. The March 5th settlement came a day before the case was set to go to trial. This Louisiana police brutality settlement comes in the wake of other recent claims of police brutality in various locations throughout the United States, including Mississippi and Chicago.

After being comped by Harrahs casino (NEW ORLEANS) for 3 days during our Christmas vacation, My wife was falsely arrested by a black belligerent racist security guard. The video shows him sticking his head in the police car spewing racial obscenities. This took place during the last hour of our stay. Debbie(My Wife) wanted to play until checkout. When she didn’t return by checkout I walked across the street from the hotel that HARRAHS CASINO comped for us and went to security to have her paged. They said they couldn’t unless it was an emergency, In which I said I could not find my wife. They still refused. I searched several hours before going to room, I noticed her phone had several missed calls, I hit redial and it was a bailbondsman. She was released in the early morning the next day. She had been severely beaten by all black deputies. The back part of her jeans were almost torn off. I might add that my wife 38 yr. old had never even had a speeding ticket before this incident. My wife has since had 4 back surguries and is unable to do the work and activities she used to. If they were going to give this country an enema it would most certainly be inserted in the French Quarter. We have filed suit against HARRAHS and the SHERIFFS OFFICE and the city. JAMES HERRING
